"Writing is the only thing I do that when doing it, I don't feel I should be doing something else" - Gloria Steinem.
At age 96 I thought my dream of writing my Autobiography was unattainable. I’d left it so late my writing was illegible, my eyesight virtually gone, my hearing poor. Robin Storey proved herself to be a very patient, understanding and diligent Ghost Writer for my project. My Book, The Ambo has now been published and is receiving rave reviews already. This would never have been possible without Robin. I will always be grateful to her for that and I am proud of what we have achieved together.

An Introduction To Ghostwriting
About Robin Storey
For many years Robin was a dedicated fiction novelist and has written 7 novels and novellas and an anthology of short stories, mainly in the crime and comedy genres. Then one day, she was asked to put together the life story of an elderly gentleman in the early stage of dementia. Before she was finished, she'd discovered a new writing passion. Since then, Robin has switched her writing focus to ghostwriting memoirs and life stories. She may write another fiction novel one day, but right now she loves helping people to get their stories out into the world.
Some of Robin's Ghostwriting Books
Because of confidentiality clauses, ghostwriters often can't display the books they've written. But sometimes the client includes the writer in the author credit. Also, some books are written for the commercial market and others just for family (which are usually not for sale).

Your story is unique. Maybe its a full life story, maybe an event has occured in your life that you need to speak about or maybe you want to promote something. In each of these cases, a ghostwriter can make the difference in getting your story heard by those that matter.

GHOSTWRITING FAQ'S
A ghostwriter is a professional writer who is paid to write for another person or company. The ghostwriter will conduct all the research (unless some already exists), conduct interviews, write, edit (although will generally use professional editors and proofreaders) and sometimes help publish the final work, if that's what the client wants. You would need a ghostwriter primarily because you don't have the time or the experience to write a memoir or life story yourself. Initially, I had never thought of ghostwriting and was too busy writing my fiction novels. Then one day a story opportunity came up about an ex-Vietnam soldier who had been diagnosed with dementia, and his story was too compelling to pass up. I wrote a mini life story for his family, and by the time I was finished I was hooked. I loved the interviewing, the writing process and all the research needed to complete it. Once upon a time I was a freelance journalist, and my previous experience interviewing and gathering facts has come to the fore. I love ghostwriting so much now that this is my sole occupation.
That's an easier question to answer than you think. A memoir is about a certain period of your life, or a particular episode or experience, whereas a life story is a complete story of your life from start to finish (or to the present day, of course). Memoirs can span the whole of your life if there is a specific theme - eg relationships or travels, so that only the events relating to those themes are included. Memoirs are effective for telling stories that have a strong focus, such as my own story about how I handled my experience of breast cancer. Life stories are for when you want to cast the net wider to capture all the events and stories of your life.
The cost of writing your book will depend on many factors - how many words it will be, how many interviews I need to do with you, how much research I need to do, and if you want it commercially published. Each person's story is unique, so I like to take the time to find out your exact requirements before quoting you a fee.
My ghostwriting fee includes the following:
Interview time and recording of interviews, with you and others, if necessary
Transcription of those interviews
Research
Writing the manuscript
Making changes that you request
Two full revisions of the manuscript
Editing for clarity, flow and readability
Professional proofreading for spelling, grammar and punctuation
All these tasks contribute to my writing the very best book that I can for you. To learn more about what's required and the costs associated go to my ghostwriter information page.
Why I Do What I Do
I love to help people tell their stories and get them out into the world for others to read. There can never be too many stories! Not only do I get to meet so many fascinating people, but I am able use my creative writing skills to to turn their words into an engaging story. I love the fact that each story presents a new challenge, and being outside my comfort zone is how I learn and grow in my craft.
